Lancaster NX611 “Just Jane”
On display at East Kirkby in Lincolnshire, NX611 was built just before the end of WWII at Longbridge near Birmingham. This Lanc is able to taxy but is not airworthy.
awesome – great shot!
She is a grand looking old lady. Shame she doesn’t fly, but she no doubt deserves a rest. The wee guys in the cockpit give it some nice scale.
There see …You got it with full blades blur Ian ! I never doubted you wouldnt 🙂 I like the bottom shot greatly …the angle is terrific and that sky really sets Jane off well ! Lancaster porn!

She could fly …if they wanter her to ….but I reckon they are biding time till the Memorial one has to be stood down …she would be worth so much more then !
Lovely shots..Great old plane..A little ride in that would be great 😉
I think whilst very similar yours is brighter and a tad sharper than mine !
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/25305713@N04] Cheers Wilf, it would be fun but at £300 a pop that’s too steep for me. More than take a ride, I’d just like to get on board and sit in some of the crew positions.

As you say, it is a shame about that shed in the background. The second shot above I like a lot, the autumn trees add to it but the slightly out of synch outer starboard engine relegated it to second position! The third shot is ok, but I could have framed it better by taking a couple of steps back to fit the blades in properly.
Thanks for you comments Paul.
Very nice series Ian – and excellent prop blur! I do like the composition of the third photo – as Paul says, the pov and partially cloudy sky makes for a very interesting view.
Looking good – power too!! Great sky inclusives too
Shame it can’t fly. Superb aircraft well captured..
Cheers Ian for posting these. Magnificent plane. Might get to see it one day.
