[http://www.flickr.com/photos/nondesigner] as far as proving itself against the harrier , it doesnt have to ….the harrier as good as it was is an aircraft from a bygone age and the Typhoon is the future it may not have vertical takeoff capabilities but it can fly incredibly slowly and is super-manouverable …all this with an incredible Mach 2 top speed (that they admit to) ….like or not the Typhoon would have an Harrier for breakfast. Its like comparing a Harrier with a Meteor, the comparison just doesnt stand up.

Thanks John. Mostly dry. Paul and me huddled under our raincoats at one point, the cameras stashed under a bivi sack, while all around us everyone else was sat smiling smugly at us from under their umbrellas. But yeah, good show. This was one of the highlights, if for the noise alone.

I can sympathize with you coming from Portland Oregon, we don’t tan, we rust. We say summer doesn’t start until July 5th because it always seems to rain until the day after Independence Day.
It is a nice looking plane Ian…. I’d have mistaken this for HDR, but I know you don’t do those…. that Arcsoft thingy of yours again. Whatever, its a great piece of work.

yeah to equiping the soldiers properly and keeping the carriers but they need this aircraft too ! …….we are beginning to look like the forces did before the second world war …underequipped with old gear ! Virtually the only decent kit we have is the modern tanks but not enough of them , the Tornado and the Typhoon ,a few subs and an handful of modern destroyers !
I suspect that whilst good for policing small conflicts that carriers may be redundant if something big kicks off …the next big war will be very different from the last one .
