English Electric Lightning XS904
At Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome, Leicestershire.
Lightnings could fly at twice the speed of sound and apparently could climb up to three times the height of Everest.
Lightning XR728, first flew March 1965.
You lucky man …:-))
Awesome craft.!!!!
Not a similar construction, nevertheless it’s look makes me think of Su-22 http://www.flugzeuginfo.net/acimages/su22m4_kp.jpg which by the way is still in service in one of the PAF squadrons. It’s said to be replaced in 2014 by drones.

See what you mean!
Nice shots Ian, cracking internal hanger shot.
I can remember the last one to fly at the Mildenhall air show many moons ago.
Great shot of a classic Ian – I remember seeing them at Woodford airshow years ago, awesome machines 🙂
You have some colour in the sky too …..this must have been right at the start before the event proper began.
and you have taken the other one in the hanger too …i missed taking that one completely …..should have gone there a bit earlier could have seen more of the other stuff too !
Will be looking out for more night shoots now !
it just looks grunty d’nit?
Lovely series of shots Ian – special like the last one in the hanger.
Nice shot
Wow…. Twice the speed of sound is fair shifting for an old girl of that age.
