Dambusters 70th Anniversary
Flypast today at Derwent Reservoir in the Peak District where 617 Squadron trained for the operation.
I have cloned out all the people watching from the opposite bank.

You have killed the people !
Monster ! 🙂
Great shot Ian . My portrait version captured the dam and aircraft together but doesnt work as well as this one …..landscape is the way to go I reckon .
Cloning out the people has seemed to give it a quite "lonely" feel… Good work, could have been shot 70 years ago!
Hope you don’t mind this is now my desktop picture 🙂
Top shot Ian, ace vantage point.
I did text you , but could not get a signal up there.
Amazing day cheers.

Awesome shot Ian!
Great shot of a great remembrance. I’ll bet there were plenty of Germans watching 70 years ago (and they were shooting back!). Nicely done.
It’s a brilliant shot, Ian – must have been quite a job cloning everyone out, I can imagine there was quite a crowd there? :~}
Perfect vantage point. Well planned to include the dam.
Quite moving to see I bet.
Perhaps a little tear in your eye?
Agree, this is a great shot, and such a rare opportunity to boot. Great vantage point, obvious poignancy against the dam.
great photo Ian

Super shot mate, loads better than mine.
Seems strange without the folks down below – almost like there’s this flypast taking place and everyone else is missing it!
Lovely shot Ian would loved to have been there for this.
Stunning shots Ian..I really wanted to go there but circumstances dictated otherwise..Thanks for the insight.
It flew over us at Donington 2 weeks ago.
you went to Derwent? you lucky bastard.
very nice.
Wonderful. Like the way you treated this Ian as inclusion of the spectators detracted from the moment.
Much appreciated on the heads-up too, just a shame I couldn’t make it there. Cheers Rob
