Rolls-Royce Griffon V12 Engine
The brakes on those little trollys must be good !
Now they are shiny blades…..
Wonderful detail as usual on this engine Ian!! I always enjoy your photos and look forward to what you show next!! You always put us in the picture so we can share your experiences which makes Flickr a very special place to be!!
Wow! Aren’t they cool… I bet they did sound amazing… all lined up and all fired up! %-)
I second that!
Is this Duxford? I remember when I was there in ’07 seeing the line up of aero engines on trolleys and thinking just the same as Andy, why didn’t they lunge forward into the crowd? I seem to recall they were chained to a shackle or something as well. And as Ian says, the noise and the blast is just awesome!
Thanks all. Yeah, this is Duxford, last July’s Flying Legends Airshow.
Standing directly in front of them, you do wonder at the brakes. The thought of bolting these engines to trolleys and then revving them up till they howl for the enjoyment of the crowd seems a very British thing to do. I wonder if it’s a common feature at airshows around the world?
seen these before and they kinda worry ya sometimes…!..love the composition btw…!
Wonder if there’s a way of putting one of those in my car??? lol!!
Wish I could put one on my car
