Yakovlev Yak 9
Replica. Yak 9s were used to escort American bombers raiding oil fields in Romania.
wow — you wouldn’t miss that flying around in the sky.. I am assuming they weren’t painted like this normally.
Yeah, believe it or not this is a camoflage paint job. It’s having my Lumix set to Vivid Sunset does this!
Smart looking Yak.
Nice shot – colours are fab. — Seen on my Flickr home page. (?)
Looks like new! Brilliant colours and you caught the detail – great!
That is a peculiar colour scheme ! Can’t quite see where it would blend in…
Thanks everyone.
And thanks for the info Steve. You are far more au fait with what’s going on in the aviation world than I am!
The Allison V1710 – was that the same engine in P51s before the switch to Rolls Royce Merlins?
Have updated the info, this is indeed a replica, the absence of guns being a dead giveaway.
If there are oil fields in Romania why would anyone need to sell a child for a betamax vcr?
Great colours. Nice shot.
Lovely sharp shot …have never seen one of these before
nice shot!
