Seeing these planes always reminds me on "Catch 22". Beautiful aircraft and capture, clouds help make it.

Cheers Colin. I should watch that, tried reading the book but got fed up after 1/3 of way thru, though it must have made an impression; 15 years on, I can still recall some of the characters….

Ian, took your advice and had a look through his stream, he’s hundreds of planes on there!
Did a search for Mosquito on his photos and came across a colour photo of Max Aitkens red spinnered mossie at Banff during 1945, left a paragraph for him to give him some more detail!!

Mmm. Nice vintagy shot. Makes me wanna say, "here’s lookin’ at you, kid." (Probably not even the same era or aircraft – but nostalgic all the same :D)

You’re not far off. Certainly same era – early 40’s. The plane Humphrey Bogart watches Ingrid Bergman fly off in is a Lockheed Electra (or a model of one) Same type of plane featured in the new movie Amelia.

I don’t know, but I’ll take another look at recent Flypast mags, that’s usually the place to find stuff like that.
