Halifax Bomber
This is a reconstruction made from parts of two seperate Halifax bombers
The bomber was named after the West Yorkshire town.
There are only two Halifax bombers left in the world, the other is in Canada.
Apart from the one above, the nearest you will get to seeing a Halifax bomber in the UK is this recovered wreck on display in London.
Other than these two, there’s just the scraps of debris left at some crash sites….
like most old warbirds: it is a shame that out of so many made, so few are left. great info Ian, love the paintjob on ol’ Friday here … looks like it had a few missions. interesting with the horseshoe – i thought for luck it was meant to be UP not tipped down? .. ang.

It is amazing to see that only a thin aluminum skin separated young men from the elements and lead…and even more amazing a few warbirds do remain in spite of all odds.

Fine shot buddy.
Its name and all the little bombs kinda creep me out…. but it is an important part of our history and must be presevered…. well done those Yorkshiremen for doing a cut-and-shut on this old girl.
