‹ Return to USAAF Crash Sites 1942 – 1945
B-24H Liberator 42-95095 near Gairloch, Wester Ross, Scotland
These photos were taken by Ashley Moseley and are used here with kind permission. Ashley had visited the crash site and contacted me, asking if I’d like to upload these photos. As it’s not likley I will be in the north west of Scotland any time soon, I am more than happy to include them here.
The B-24H, named ‘Sleepy Gal Time’ apparently, had taken off from Prestwick on 13 June 1945, heading for Iceland before the final leg to the USA but alas crashed on Sidhean Mor killing all 15 crewmen on board. It is not known why the aircraft crashed, but an uncontrolled engine fire may have been the cause.
Crew and more details please see the Yorkshire-Aircraft webpage.
