Site of Płaszów Forced Labour Camp
taken from the higher ground in front of Camp Commandant Amon Goethe’s villa. In the movie Schindler’s List, Ralph Fiennes portrays Goethe shooting prisoners with his rifle from the balcony of his villa (and his girlfriend is upset because the noise keeps her awake). It looked to me like he wouldn’t have been able to see over this high ground, and other reports suggest he came up here to have his fun. There are photos however, of Goethe on the balcony with a rifle.
Looking towards Krakow. The site Spielberg used as the set for Płaszów was over the next ridge and off to the left.
Very interesting , we did not get time to visit these sites.
I remember his girlfriend for the wrong reasons!!
Thanks for the set of Schindlers List photos, I found them of great interest. I consider it to be one of the most evocative anti-war film’s of its genre and quite clearly remember watching it in a cinema in Aberdeen on my own because my wife would not come and watch it with me as she found the subject matter to disturbing to view, which it was.

Ha , that is what it looks like then ! We visited it this time around and could not really see it at all becasue of the snow cover .
