Lancaster NX611 “Just Jane”

On display at East Kirkby in Lincolnshire, NX611 was built just before the end of WWII at Longbridge near Birmingham. This Lanc is able to taxy but is not airworthy.

    She is a grand looking old lady. Shame she doesn’t fly, but she no doubt deserves a rest. The wee guys in the cockpit give it some nice scale.

    As you say, it is a shame about that shed in the background. The second shot above I like a lot, the autumn trees add to it but the slightly out of synch outer starboard engine relegated it to second position! The third shot is ok, but I could have framed it better by taking a couple of steps back to fit the blades in properly.

    Very nice series Ian – and excellent prop blur! I do like the composition of the third photo – as Paul says, the pov and partially cloudy sky makes for a very interesting view.
