With the Harpoon like refueling probe and industrial goth look this bird would be at home in a Jules Vern/ Buck Rogers movie. Great capture!

Is it graceful or is it ugly….? Some difference of opinion. Me I really prefer old prop planes but there was something about this that made us go back and wait for the light to change to get the shots we wanted (the one I wanted was the second shot but I f***ed it up a bit so it got relegated to second place).
Great shots of a great aircraft at a great museum.
Beauty is clearly subjective, but I’ve always been a fan and prefer it to the Vulcan.
The Victor certainly has some unusual ‘space age’ artistic lines, but its sleek, especially in flight. Victors also have a real ‘presence’ up close too.
Definitely a plane that has grown on me. As a kid when these things were in service I thought it was an ugly creature. With a bit of age my opinions have changed and its now for me certainly as lovely as the Vulcan (which I always loved and always will).
Always liked that bit of design trivia that because the airflow under the plane was so smooth they had to add depolyable spoilers ahead of the bomb bay doors to make sure weapons being released actually fell clear of the aircraft cleanly.
Did any one see the old film called The Iron Maiden?
Was basiclly about steam traction engines owned by an aircraft designer.
End of the film it show an aircraft called The iron Maiden after his traction engine

Probably the best plane design ever! Love all the V bommers, this though puhes the image so well. I do feel that the designer watched Flash Gordon too much though, Ming would love the cockpit.

Two great shots Ian – superb sky and saturated colours. If nothing else, the Victor, Valiant and Vulcan were great looking aircraft .

A superb shot of the Victor. My friends father worked in the factory where they made these, he made the pitot tubes.

Yeah they were good looking aircraft back then. Modern jets don’t really do it for me.
