[http://www.flickr.com/photos/74469824@N00] It was worth the effort.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/bill_fawcett] Yeah it is very good to see the men of Bomber Command get some recognition at last.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/nondesigner] Not yet Malcom. I will catch it later or look online.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/darrendpc] Thanks mate. It was superb to see the Lanc and the Spit and the Tornadoes.

  14. S Cansfield says:

Pleased you got the shot, wish I’d been there.

  15. Nicholas1963 says:

Great pictures, many thanks! Earlier tonight I watched the commemoration at RAF Scampton 2 of the 3 surviving dam buster present. I was about 12 when I first read Paul Brickhill’s book and since have collected what ever I can snap up dealing with operation Chastise. What a cool and brave thing to do; what a sacrifice too: 53 young men gone.
    Lest we forget.

  16. Kingsdude/Dave says:

Just seen that there is another Dambusters documentary on BBC 2 later tonight!

  17. Nicholas1963 says:

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/davel59] Yes mate it is but rather late for me considering us in the formerly enemy coast ahead are an hour later than you. Think I cannot manage work starting of at 7 when I watch the telly till 2 in the morning.. Will have to watch later.
Good to see that it gets some attention.

  18. Normanbongo says:

Nice ones Ian. I was listening to Chris Evans’ breakfast show as he was at the airfield where they flew from. He mentioned the documentary on Ch4 i watched last year where they recreated designing and flying with the bombs. No easy feat.

  51. cgullz says:

the light and colours to this image, beautifully graced with this classic a/c – magic. fabulous work Ian.

  52. crusader752 says:

I’ve seen a few photo’s from that day Ian but this one stands out especially with the sense of motion and the bomb doors open. Imagine doing that for real – much lower, in the dark, being shot at and then if you were lucky, getting back home.
    Total respect.
When I see her again this year I shall look upon her with even more awe and savour the experience and again remember those who didn’t make it back.
